Havre de musique/Musical Haven!

Je vous écris d'un chalet pas très loin de la ville de Montréal, sur le bord du fleuve, où nous sommes installé depuis quelques temps, comme réfuge pour pratiquer. C'est notre havre de musique présentement!!
Nous venons de finir plusieurs jours de pratique intense et productif, et on est content de la direction que l'album prend!
Nous avons tout l'essentiel pour les derniers jours de pratique avant de commencer la pré-production de l'album... lieu tranquil et inspirant, nouvelle musique, petit système de son, quelques pianos (en fait, y'en a 4 dans mon champ de vision toute suite!), instruments, enregistreuses et ordinateurs, poêle à bois, bonne humeur, bon café et thé!
Nous travaillons sur quelques différentes chansons ces jours-ci...il y en a une qui s'appelle 'Ding Ding' ou 'Tobie Lapierre' qu'on a apprise d'une bonne amie musicienne chanteuse, Danielle Martineau. Nous connaissons Danielle depuis plusieurs années et elle a toujours été une source d'inspiration pour nous, avec ses connaissances, son très grand répertoire de chansons traditionnelles et sa générosité. On a travaillé sur un projet de musique ensemble et cette chanson faisait partie du répertoire... nous l'avons beaucoup aimé alors on est très content de l'inclure sur cet album! Merci Danielle!!
Alors on prend maintenant une journée de repos et ensuite on recommence...je vais aller me reposer et faire quelque chose qui n'a rien à faire avec la musique pour changer les idées. À bientôt!

I am writing to you from an inspiring cottage on the river, not too far from Montreal. The band is camped out here for a little while...it's really our musical haven at the moment. 
We just finished 5 days of intense and productive practicing and we're feeling great about what is going on musically! 
We have all the essentials for our last days of rehearsals before starting the album pre-production...wonderful and inspiring setting, small sound system, a few pianos (actually, i see 4 in my field of view!), instruments, recorders and computer, wood stove, good coffee and tea! 
We've been working on a few songs these days... one of them is called 'Ding Ding' or 'Tobie Lapierre'. We learned this song from a good friend musician and singer, Danielle Martineau. We've known Danielle for quite some time and she has always been a source of inspiration for us, with her musical knowledge, her huge repertoire of traditional songs and her generosity. We worked together on a musical project and this song was part of the repertoire we sang together... we really loved the song so we're happy to include a Vishtèn version of it on this new album! Thanks Danielle!!
I must go rest now and do something that has nothing to do with music :) Have a great day everyone!

NOUVEAU FORFAIT !! NEW MOSAÏK PACKAGE !!

Oui oui... nous aimons tricoté. Ben, vraiment c'est plutôt Emmanuelle et moi même qui tricote... (Pascal lui a plein d'autres talents:)! Voilà pourquoi nous avons décidé de créer un forfait tricot pour notre pré-vente d'album (et en plus, on aime des choses faite à la main) ! On ne savais pas trop si les gens allait le vouloir mais quand on a vu les commandes entré, on étaient agréablement surpris!!! 
MAIS on a seulement un temps limité d'ici l'été pour tricoter et après tout c'est la musique au premier plan dans ce projet...alors nous avons limité les tricots à 8 paires de réchauffe poignets et le forfait est maintenant ÉPUISÉ !! MERCI aux 8 personnes qui ont contribué au projet Mosaïk en achetant ce forfait! 
On a décidé de créer un nouveau forfait à 100$, pour ceux qui nous on parlé d'avoir un forfait avec un t-shirt ET le Livre de tounes Vishtèn !


Yes yes... we love knitting. Well, really it's more Emmanuelle and me that knit... (Pascal, he has lots of other talents :)! So since we love knitting, this is why we created the knitting package for the pre sale (plus, we like the idea of making something home made)! We didn't quite know if it would work and if anyone would buy the package but we soon saw the orders come in, and we were happily surprised!!!
BUT we only have a limited amount of time to knit before the summer and after all the music is the most important part of this project...so we had to limit the knits to 8 pairs of wrist warmers so the knit package is SOLD OUT! THANKS so much to the 8 contributors that bought this package! (We're now knitting like crazy:-)  We decided to create a new $100 package, for those who want to get a t-shirt AND a Vishtèn Tune Book, so here it is !

Travail, travail et les Yeux Noirs!!

Notre travail sur la musique de l'album avance bien.. à tout les jours nous travaillons plusieurs longues heures et nous avons tellement hâte de rentrer dans le studio, et encore plus hâte de pouvoir vous offrir le cd! Dans quelques semaines, nous allons commencer le travail de pré-production mais jusqu'à ce temps, le travail musical continue!!

Vendredi passé, notre but était de pouvoir enregistré six pièces pour pouvoir écoutez, prendre un recul et prendre nos notes personnels sur les arrangements. Cette semaine nous avons encore quelques arrangements à concrétiser et des harmonies à placer, on vous en redonne des nouvelles !

The work for the music that will be on the album going well... every day we work many long hours and we are so excited to get in the studio, and even more excited to be able to offer it to the public! In a few weeks, we'll be started the album pre production but until then... more work!! 

Friday, our goal was to record six pieces to be able to listen, take a step back and take our personal notes on the arrangements. This week, we still have a few tune arrangements to finalize and some harmonies to find, we'll give you more news about that!

Voici un vidéo d'une des chansons qui sera sur l'album Mosaïk. C'est une chanson qu'Emmanuelle a trouvé dans une collection de chansons de la Louisiane, collecté par Alan Lomax dans les années 1930. Elle avait trouvé un album dans un magasin quand nous étions en tournée aux É.U. quelques années passées. Ce vidéo a été filmé en hiver 2011 à l'ÎPÉ dans le cadre du projet 'This Town Is Small'. On espère que vous allez l'aimer!!

Here is a video of one of the songs that will be on the new album. It's a song that Emmanuelle found in a collection of songs from Louisiana, collected by Alan Lomax in the '30's. She found a cd while we were on tour a few years ago. This video was filmed in winter 2011 on PEI by a great group of people for the project 'This Town Is Small'! We hope that you will like it!!
